3600

The residency at Villa Manin by Moroccan choreographer Radouan Mriziga and his team provides the basis for the first formal articulation of a choreographic project entitled 3600.
It explores the subject of dialogue and exchange between cultures starting from the definition of art in Islamic culture, a conception which unites mathematical precision, aesthetic pleasure and symbols. In Islamic art, the artist must be a craftsman of geometric models, an engineer and a philosopher: a designer who is capable of representing the realm of the divine.
3600 refers to the number of seconds available for the actors to perform anything they are able to create in that time and space, and where the objects created in turn become performance.
In Mriziga's vision for this project, the performers simultaneously become stage technicians, creators of sound and music, choreographers, lighting designers, architects and costume designers.
3600 challenges the way we produce performances through the creation of linear and transparent structures on the stage. These are non-hierarchical and compositionally complex, and the body of the performer is the only thing that produces what we see, feel and perceive.
Three performers create the subject of the performance in different timelines: starting from the function of the performer's body in the present and considering it in relation to everyday needs and simple functional tasks.

Radouan Mriziga was born on June 10, 1985 in Marrakech in Morocco, where he first became interested in dance. He studied and developed his passion in France and Tunisia, before graduating from PARTS (Performing Arts Research and Training Studios) in Brussels.
Since 2008 he has lived and worked in Brussels as a dancer/ performer/creator and choreographer.
