THERE IS A PLACE FOR EVERYONE – Reflections on participatory theatre

The work undertaken by CSS in the field of participatory theatre is part of an exciting and much wider and Italian and European context.
This season will enjoy a significant event of participatory theatre, with a performance involving more than 80 women on stage in L’Assemblea, a project conceived and directed by Rita Maffei. This is a reflection of our desire to engage with some of the most exciting participatory theatre activities in Italy and abroad, in order to better understand the work we do, and to examine the intentions, relationships with the public and with everyday life experts, as we define these participants in collective participatory works.

There is a Place for Everyone was born from this examination of the vibrant developments in this area. The event involves three afternoons with well-known and established artists, emerging artists, artistic directors and theatre critics, engaging in an in-depth discussion with us, with the participants and with the audience. These discussions will explore the different practices, experiences and results seen in the different approaches taken by the Bürgerbühne, the Citizens’ Stage, and the Teatro dei Cittadini in Italy and in Europe.
