Francesca Osso and Gabriele Gerets Albanese met in October during a performance in which she was an actress and he was a sound designer. It was then that they started creating music together. Soon afterwards, they decided to record an album of Francesca's songs while travelling.
They drove to Vienna and continued to Prague and Salzburg before settling in Paris. There, in a Saint-Marcel living room, they began to record and bring to life the songs, some of which had been written during their travels.
They now present to the public the result of their endeavours, recounting their encounter, their journey and their creative process.
The idea for this album came to me during road trips between Italy, Austria, the Czech Republic and France. It emerged in the dive bars of Prague and the deserted street that separates it from Vienna, where all the beautiful buildings resemble former asylums. It also emerged on the ice in Salzburg, in a living room in Saint-Marcel and in my room in Udine. It was born in the continuous adoration, night and day, outside Notre-Dame; in the 8 a.m. wake-up call, accompanied by Jessica Pratt singing in the shower; in the eggs; on the rotten stairs of Modigliani's palace; in the carrion-like indecision; in the midnight dinners; and in the Place de la Contrescarpe, near the stars. It was born ten years ago when I wrote a song. It was born when I stopped singing and began to believe in the creatures that live alongside the rivers in Faedis. It was born during the journey between Grado and Udine when I was eight, when Patty Pravo suddenly started playing in the car. It was born on the seventh continent, amidst mink fur and boeuf bourguignon. It was born in Gerets' hands and in his obsessive patience, which I lack. It was born in my discouragement and in the idea that what we were doing was too beautiful. A creation made in the car, at home, and under the palaces of Paris.
