The Garden of Wonders is a 12-minute virtual reality experience that every spectator can enjoy through the use of VR headset.
Wearing 3D visors, you will be accompanied by Giovanni Ziborghi, Manin's master of the house in the early 18th century, on an extraordinary journey of discovery through the villa's garden during its most opulent period. During this time, the garden was characterised by water features, hanging gardens, veranda theatres, labyrinths, and models of fortresses. Ziborghi will recount how he was inspired by a 'French zardiniere' who visited Passariano, how he adapted his designs, selected plants for the parterres, commissioned statues to adorn the avenues and created scenographic architecture to transform the garden into an extraordinary space that would impress his noble patrons.
Accompanied by Ziborghi, we will walk along the park's avenues, fly over the flowerbeds and architecture, and rediscover the physiognomy of this place, which was designed to arouse the admiration of the most illustrious guests.
This virtual tour is the fourth stage of the multimedia itinerary to rediscover Villa Manin and its history. Today, this itinerary consists of animated paintings in the stables depicting Doge Manin, Napoleon Bonaparte, Maria Amalia of Saxony, and a commoner in the service of the Manins. It also includes a tactile table in the Dorigny Room which retraces the history of the architecture and the Manin family, as well as an installation dedicated to the Treaty of Campoformio.
You can enjoy the immersive experience of the Garden of Wonders on the first floor of the west wing of Villa Manin's aristocratic building.
